If you are already in Italy on a study-based residence permit (Permesso di Soggiorno per motivi di studio) and your permit is coming up for renewal, the Questura (prefecture / immigration police) wants to see that you actually continued to study during the previous permit period — not that you used the study permit as a long-stay tourist visa. This page describes the dedicated course pathway we built precisely for that renewal moment: documented continuity, prefecture-grade attendance reporting, in a Light format that fits around your life in Italy.
Why a dedicated "renewal" course exists
Renewal applications fail most often for one reason: the Questura cannot see continuity of academic activity during the previous permit period. A student who took one short course six months ago and then nothing else is in a weaker position than a student with documented, continuous enrolment running into the renewal date.
The renewal course is a Light-format programme (daily in-class lessons plus 2 hours/day of structured guided self-study) designed to provide exactly that continuity, in a format that is realistic for someone already living and possibly working in Italy.
How it works
Light-format weekly commitment
Daily lessons + 2 hours/day of structured guided self-study. Documented as a full weekly commitment in prefecture-grade formats. Lighter daily timetable so you can keep working part-time or managing other commitments.
Continuous duration to your renewal date
We build the course to run continuously up to your renewal appointment date — typically 3, 6, or 12 months — so there is no gap in your study record.
Prefecture-grade attendance reporting
Attendance recorded weekly. End-of-period report issued in the format the Questura accepts: total hours attended, level achieved, programme name, accreditation reference. The same format the Italian prefectures see from regulated higher institutes.
Pre-renewal document review
Two weeks before your renewal appointment, we review your file with you: course documentation, accommodation, codice fiscale, health coverage, financial means. We flag anything that looks weak and how to strengthen it.
Who this is for
This course is right for you if you are already in Italy on a study residence permit, you need to renew it in the next 1–12 months, and you want a documented, continuous study programme to support the renewal. It is also a sensible option if your previous study activity was thin and you want to strengthen your file before the appointment.
It is not for students applying for their first study visa (use the long-term courses pathway for that), and it is not for permits in other categories (work, family reunion, asylum — those have different renewal pathways and you should consult an immigration lawyer).
Realistic disclaimer
Renewal decisions belong to the Italian prefecture / Questura, not to us. We provide a course and documentation that supports the renewal narrative — we do not represent you legally and we do not guarantee outcomes. In our experience, strong continuous study documentation significantly improves outcomes, but the prefecture decides on the whole file (also accommodation, financial means, criminal record check, etc.).
Where to take it
Available in all four cities. Choose based on where you actually live — the renewal application is filed at the Questura with jurisdiction over your residence address.
